i remember back in my Charis Christian Fellowship days,
we would talk about about this typical stereotype of God (a wrong one of course)
being this old man with a long white beard, sitting on his throne
wearing the sandals and a long white robe,
waiting to strike us with lightning bolts everytime he wants our attention.
funny story on alex's blogspot
about Jim Caviezel who plays Jesus in the movie The Passion of Christ
getting struck by lightning twice over the span of a few months.
and we talk about God working in wonderful + mysterious ways,
wwwell, if this isnt a smack in the face for you mister Caveizel
that God is speaking to you, then i dunno what is!

not the best design from the supposedly biggest design company in the world,
but a very clever idea indeed.

in my slogs assignment for interactive multimedia,
i had to write an entry about randomness and chance.
i decided to share what i wrote with the rest of the online community..
here goes:
Random adj.
1. Random is having no purpose, pattern or expected outcome.
Randomly select a card from the pile.
2. Random is also one of those words that mean absolutely nothing at all.
This is a random event.
I don't believe that anything in our lives are random or happen by chance;
everything was put into place for a reason by God himself.
In fact, our very existence was planned out
and the very hairs on our heads are counted.
How can anyone believe that the beautiful universe that we live in
came about by some rocks crashing into each other?
And how can we live our lives thinking that there is no reason for life
except to make money and to be happy?
For those who believe that there is nothing beyond death,
then what is the reason to live,
to be successful or to be famous, if we're just going to die someday?
Some people ponder these questions and leave it at that,
walking away with a depressing outlook on life.
Fortunately, there's hope - a hope found only
in knowing personally the God who created you.
Your once "random" life can be one with meaning, purpose and passion.

no matter how well i manage my time,
i can't seem to get ahead of schedule for school work.
there's just not enough hrs in the day
to finish all the work that i need to get done.
mounting, pasting, writing, analyzing, creating, photographing,
and the list goes on..
no time to call or see friends, watch tv,
update aa, or ANYthing that is remotely close to chilling.
this is about as close as i get to fun.
woooohoo..
my week consists of school, church, work
and all the inbetweens im at home doing work.
rebeccas turning into a design hermit. aahhhh.

freedom. money. friends. time,
too much time, but in some ways, too little..
dragonboat. chinese canadian fashion designer awards. yoah.
walks downtown. chilling at second cup. going out,
without having to worry about the time,
or having to wakeup early the next morning,
or the many stresses of school.
softball. lots and lots of softball.
going out for sushi, two organized outside-of-the-league games,
the banquet and the mighty, mighty slingers.
wasting away cell phone minutes, starlit nights at the park,
and enough asianavenue to last a lifetime.
summer 2003.
honestly the best summer yet.
thanks to everyone who was a part of it in some way.
i'm sad its over, but more glad it happened.

hmm.. what are my plans for the future u ask?
oh fine. since you insist.
after i work under a big, design firm halfway across the world for a while
i'll be heading off on my own to start my own company in NYC.
By then, my name will be so well-known and my clients will be so many
that the $$ will simply be flowing in like the niagra.
In my company, i'll be the big boss, art director who simply says
"No, that's hideous."
or "Yeah, that's good."
And since i'll be the one on top, i'll have many junior designers under me
giving them a chance to learn from the professionals at an early age.
i'll have so much free time that me and glen are gonna start up
our own coffee shop and dessert place, of course designed by me.
he'll handle the business shtuff of it all. haha right glen?
then when that gets going, i'll do some side work.
i'll head off to asia and do some missions work
while doing some design jobs while im at it.
and when all else fails,
i'll just go and teach it in university.
yay.
hmm.. that sounds about right.
God-willing of course =P
lol.. yeah.. class at sheridan gets boring
and i tend to doze off into la la land.
so about the fact that i have french cousins..
i got a chance to re-meet a couple of them
and their friends over the summer.
maybe if i can get some pictures uploaded soon i'll put some up.
they came from paris, france to visit here for a little bit
and so i asked them about how it was.
apparently, theres all these weird and interesting
things going on over there..
** stephanie and cedric if you read this,
correct me if im wrong =)
so what's different u ask?
well for one, hugs aren't too popular.
. when greeting ur friends they do the whole cheek to cheek kiss thing.
. apparently hugs are more of an american thing.
everyones drives small, old cars and parking spaces are tight.
. when parking and getting out of ur space,
. you bump the cars around you to get out.
. which is why no one buys new porsches and suvs to drive around.
going out to eat isnt as popular as it is here.
. when they do go out to eat, they go all out.
. appetizer, main dish, dessert, coffee/tea.
. re: lots of $$
. in the business realm of france,
. they take a two hr break for lunch.
. mmm.. sounds good to me =P

when ppl ask me what im studying in university i tell them exactly what it is:
Design. a joint project with york and sheridan.
then comes the question, what kind of design? fashion design? interior design?
and i shake my head no.
what exactly is design you ask?
well, as stated by Verso magazine:
design is...
. process driven.
. globalization and interdisciplinary collaboration.
. interaction in context - clear, simple, direct and accessible.
. the present / the future - as supported by history, research and theory.
. the humaniization of technology.
. critical, creative, and insightful.
. necessary to connect ppl to ppl - on cognitive, social, physical, cultural, and emotional levels.
. an activity which serves human purposes.
. intelligence made visible.
yes, that defines something, but nothing at the same time.
still confused? click here.
So i finally decided to give birth to my own little spot here.
hopefully, this will keep you and i entertained while we all go crazy with university.
i guess a combination of my cheapness and laziness to host a website of my own has brought me here to blogspot =D
